Cast In Sorrow (2013) About book: Cast in Sorrow is the ninth book of the Elantra chronicles by Michelle Sagara.Kaylin has finally made out to the West March. Surprising she is still alive after everything she has gone threw to get there. Kaylin is the harmoniste, storyteller, of the regalia. She has been tasked with this by the green and wears a dress of the heart of green. She learns more off Teela's past and why children do not hear the regalia. Kaylin has to finish the tell that started so long ago. Her familiar is with threw it all but he still has no name and she will need to speak it.It took me longer this time around to read this book.
I am unsure why. I enjoyed it just like the other ones. Maybe it is because Cast in Flame is not out yet.
This is one of the best of the series. Mainly because I could understand almost all of it! It was a good closing second half to the previous offering.
The relationship with Teela was beautifully portrayed, and to be honest it was great to see a little more character to the Barrani. Well, as usual the ending was way too abrupt, can Sagara not understand the need for closure with all the characters, nit just Kaylin?! And there was far too little of Severn in the book - he was there, but barely.
Cast In Sorrow (Luna) (2013) About book: I have been reading Michelle Sagara's Cast series for a number of years, and always enjoy the binds that Corporal Kayla Neya gets herself into, and how she works the knots apart, or works magic, or earns new respect from the arrogant Barrani, her seargent Marcus, Severn her partner, or the numerous elementals, words of magic, or characters, like Dragons, she keeps running into. This fantasy world is a treat to return to, time and time again.Recommended read, very enjoyable! While this book was better than the last, it still lacked something for me. I prefer the book in which the other races - Leontine, Tha'alani, Dragons, have a more prominent role. To be frank, Kaylin annoys me quite a bit.
Her incessant questions and shrugging are really starting to bug me. While she isn't the only character to have traits that test my patience, she is the most prominent. That said, it was good to have more of the Consort, Lord of the West March and Teela.
